About the JRF Web Site and Community Building on the Web

Head shot of Shai GluskinWelcome to the JRF web site.

We want submissions from congregational life to populate these web pages. Please submit an article. (You'll need to register at this site first. See left column.)

We relaunched the JRF's web site in November of 2006 with the following mission:

  1. Improve site navigation
  2. Provide a fresh look
  3. Have JRF members and friends of Reconstructionism see the web site as a reflection of the activities and values going on in their congregations and in the Reconstructionist movement.
  4. Provide avenues for end user contributions through articles and comments
  5. Provide better and more efficient tools for JRF staff to communicate to Reconstructionist stakeholders.
  6. Become an outreach tool for the Reconstructionist movement.

The JRF web site is being developed with an open source web development tool called Drupal. The open source movement in general and Drupal in particular support communitarian values that are consistent with Reconstructionist values about the importance of people and the importance of participation.

On almost every page of this web site there is opportunity for users to comment on what they are reading. Some parts of the site will ultimately be limited to members of Reconstructionist congregations while the majority of the content will be accessible to all.

We hope this site will constitute an outreach effort for the Reconstructionist movement and help people to gather and add energy to their brick and mortar operations as well as help others begin new Reconstructionist communities.
